Nam Yang Brighton is an inclusive, not for profit, community based martial arts club, encouraging each and every student to become physically and mentally healthier, happier and more confident. We are proud to be a diverse school where anyone and everyone is welcome. Whether you’re new to martial arts or looking for space to develop your skills we would love to welcome you to come down and try out our classes!
We work with a wide range of people, with over 250 active members, 150 of these being children, and with over 20 different ethnic backgrounds represented in the club. We explicitly foster positive attitudes towards diversity through our work with people with physical disabilities, special education needs, mental health issues, refugees and those on low incomes (something we specifically provide for and encourage) – we all train together; And because of this Nam Yang Brighton are the first martial arts club in the UK to be awarded a Club of Sanctuary for the work we do with refugees and asylum seekers.
We teach classes in traditional martial arts (including mindfulness/meditation techniques) and combat sports. These include Shuang Yang soft style Tai Chi, Chi Gong meditation, Tiger Crane Kung Fu, Kickboxing, San Da Kickboxing, Savate Kickboxing, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shaolin Weapons. Our classes are taught in a relaxed, safe and friendly environment and we offer a variety of classes for all ages. We also make our space available to other clubs to use.
We have been making a positive impact within our local community for over 20 years. Why not pop down for a free trial and meet our wonderful community of instructors and members!
